After yet another flight we arrived back in Java, and straight on to Villa Sambing, a traditional and quaint guesthouse set in one of the most naturally beautiful locations, surrounded by rice fields and a volcano!

After a relaxing afternoon and early night, we woke at 3am to head off to Borobodur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world, to watch the sunrise. It was one of the most spectacular views we have ever seen, and even more so when you head back down from the top and turn back around, you really appreciate the size and detail of it.

Our guide then took us to a small local village off the beaten tourist track, where we were loaded onto a horse and carriage (because that is how the local’s get around) and shown all around the village, we got to listen to the children playing music and taste some of the local cuisine, but the highlight was when our guide climbed up the tree to cut us off a fresh coconut to drink from whilst we took in the views over the paddy fields, it was an amazing experience to gain an insight into their culture.
