So this was the last leg of the journey, we put Lombok in with the intention of completely relaxing after having crammed so much in to the rest of the trip, but we actually found we missed the craziness of utilising every minute of our days, so we found it hard just to laze around the pool all day, which was why we decided to go and explore Gili Trawangan.. and we were so pleased we did.
Had we have had more time there we looked have liked to explore all three of the larger Gili Islands and also the Gili Islands in the south of Lombok, but there was just no time, Lombok was described as being similar to Bali, but 25 years behind. I think this is an accurate description, the natural beauty was all still there, but the hoards of people and modern restaurants were not.
Gili Trawangan on the other hand was very busy, quite hipster and very laid back. The beach and the water was the most beautiful I have ever seen and I wish I could have stayed for longer. Unfortunately I didn’t seem to capture as many shots in this part of the trip, I think it was a mix between taking it all in, catching up on sleep and stress of finding a plane to take us back to the UK after the volcano eruption by Bali… thankfully we made it back in perfect timing, despite not wanting to actually leave!
