A weekend getaway in Europe is always good fun, but I did not expect to love Vienna as much as I did. Everywhere we walked there was something to look at, it was relaxed, buzzy but not busy and it also helped that the weather was beautiful, it was the first hint of summer we had had and I didn’t want to leave.
We had two full days there, so we had to make the most out of our time. On the first day we stuck to the Ringstrasse, which is round route around central Vienna and means you get to see most of the main tourist points including the Museum quarter, Parliament, City Hall, Opera and many more! Every building was spectacular and its the sort of city where you just don’t want to stop exploring incase there is a corner you miss.
I was on the hunt for the best Schnitzel in town, and I am pretty sure I found it as Figlmuller. I had read about this place before hand and completely forgotten about it until we were strolling down a back street and came across a little restaurant with mainly Schnitzel on the menu and it just so happened to be Figlmuller, it lived up to all expectations I had and it completely over the plate!
After food we headed up to Le Loft Bar at the Sofitel Hotel to watch the sunset and drink a Moscow Mule. It is the perfect way to take in a skyline view of Vienna and as it was a sunny day it made for a beautiful sunset and the cherry on top to the first day.
