The weather during our stay in Zurich was predominantly sunny and very hot, so we spent much of the time lazing around by the beautiful lake, it really is one of the main features of Zurich.

So these pictures are focused around the lake and the city centre near all the main shops and Paradeplatz, and unintentionally they all look very blue. I was going to do one post about Zurich, but as we had one day where the weather wasn’t as great the photos were so contrasting I thought it would be good to show them in different posts to give two different perspectives and overviews.

Zurich is beautiful, it is a great size so is super easy to find your way around and of course, being Switzerland, transport is always on time!!!!

It is equally as special in summer time as it is in winter. Summer is all about the lake and swimming and walks up the mountains, and sitting in outdoor spaces with friends, there are loads of places to do this, and winter is focused around winter walks, the thermal spa (my fave) and ice skating in Dolder, not forgetting eating Fondue!!!

These pictures just show a slice of what Zurich has to offer but I hope they capture how amazing the lake looks in summer. In person, it actually looks like million of diamonds sparking when the sunlight reflects off of it. There’s no place else you’d want to be.

Taking a wander down Paradeplatz  is a must when you’re there just to browse in the shops and and see all the trams and hustle and bustle, you have to stop at Sprungli, if not for the amazing chocolate and Luxenburgerli then definitely for lunch, they do great toasted focaccia.

Then stroll up to the lake and either sit in a cafe or restaurant nearby, or grab your swimsuits and head for the nearest Lido, there are plenty around including Seebad Enge and Strandbad Wollishofen. In summer, these are the places to be, so get up early do some sight seeing in the morning and head to the lake in the afternoon, if you’re looking for an activity then some places offer Paddle Boards, another great way to check out the sights!

If you want to see more of Zurich, check back soon to see a post about my favourite spots!
