I don’t want to say that foundations are my favourite category of makeup, as I tend to have individual favourites of each categories, but I would go as far as to say foundation is then only makeup I 100% could not live without, I guess it is in the name…
Back in my teenage years when other girls at school would be caking on the foundation, I just used to apply a tiny bit of foundation I had smuggled from my mum or Max Factor Facefinity Compact Foundation and these were even to cover any blemishes. However, as I reached 18 I started to develop hormonal acne (acne usually found on either side of your chin) and I could just not shift it, so the only thing to do was conceal it.
As expected this often involved caking on foundation, a look I have never aspired for. So I then became determined to find the perfect foundation for my skin, that concealed but still looked natural. I am incredibly fussy, I either find they are too dewy, too matte, too heavy, too light, don’t last long enough or bunches up on the skin leaving it looking cloggy… until I came across these.
My first forever foundation is Yves Saint Laurent Teint Touche Eclat. This just sinks in perfectly to my skin, and there is such a wide range of shades I think you could buy a few and just rotate them based on seasons or how much exposure you have had to the sun. I just need 2 pumps and not a drop more to give me perfect coverage and it just seems to conceal the right amount but still revealing your own skin underneath, it truly is a second skin or a your skin but better scenario. The glow is spot on and it never goes cakey or too greasy on my skin, it is my ultimate holy grail foundation.
The second is Georgio Armani Luminous Silk. Again the shades are great and I easily found a shade to match my skin tone perfectly without it being too yellowy or pink. It provides a perfect coverage, sinks in well, I would say slightly less coverage than the Touche Eclat above however it is definitely buildable. The best thing about this foundation is it doesn’t contain any SPF, so is ideal for winter (it’s also very moisturising) but also for nights out or occasions where you’ll be taking photos and are wanting to avoid the flashback!
The last foundation isn’t technically a foundation, but it does fall within bases so that’s good enough for me. It is Chanel’s CC Cream. The first thing I noticed about this is its smell. It is divine. Other Chanel products have the same scent and I only wish they had that scent in perfume form because I’d be all over it! But really the main pro about this product is its high SPF. It is a summer essential. I haven’t finished the first tube yet I will be repurchasing. I don’t like putting just any suncream on my face so using a base that covers that base (pardon the pun) too will always be my preference. It blurs out blemishes, hydrates, protects and the packaging is beautiful and light… what more could you ask for from a summer must have!
